The target audience for my newscast is young people aged 11-19 in East London. I decided to focus on college students as they are the ideal audience for my newscast. My target audience are young people because they are much more familiar with technology which will frequently be used for my newscast. The use of technology will help me reach a wider audience as there are a variety of ways to connect.
By doing thorough research I have found out that within the generation of young people there are common misconceptions of them as most stories heard on the news involves teenagers committing crimes. By obtaining the views of my target audience I have learned that a lot of people focus on religion on the news because of recent events.
Whilst filming the video I had a bit of a disadvantage as I had limited resources to show the best of my ability with filming. To film I used an Android tablet which didn't have the best picture quality. Most of the video was shot indoors as the lighting outside didn't bring the focus in the picture so space was limited. However, I was more successful with editing. I used Windows Movie Maker to edit and add sound which was a successful outcome as the timing of the music and speech is in time with the video. Doing this has increased my skills and confidence in using these kind of softwares. With this experience I've learned what I can do to make it better. For example, using a better quality camera.
