P12 - Response from Whitechapel Mission

This is the email I've received from my last enquiry to Whitechapel Mission. As shown in the email I have the opportunity to talk to the director of the charity at the end of the month. Unfortunately the time coincides with college so I have to make the choice of either rescheduling or choose another charity.

P11 - Public view on homelessness

Many people in East London are unaware of the issue with homelessness for young people as well as others. I went out to the general public and got their views on the matter of the subject and what they think causes homelessness.

In this next audio, a teenage boy mentions a family member who temporarily became homeless

P10 - Result of the questions I've emailed

Shown below is the email I've constructed and sent to Jenny at Whitechapel Mission. This was sent on the 14th January. It's been nearly 2 weeks and I've not yet received a response. As a result this has made me gone past my deadline so I will now look into other charities in East London.

P9 - Interview questions

As I am unable to meet Jenny face to face I've emailed her the questions. Down below are the questions I've asked.

!) Has there been an increase in homelessness in young people? If yes, why?

2) What are the common causes of homelessness?

3) What are some of the ways someone can receive help if they face becoming homeless?

4) As a charity, what do you do to help those who come to you for help?

5) Is there anything being done to raise awareness of the situation? For example advertising, lecture talks in schools, fundraising etc.

6) Would you say East London is an area that is badly affected by the issue? If yes, why?

7) What is being done to prevent homelessness becoming popular? And is it working/helping?

P8 - Outcome of visit to Whitechapel Mission

On the 13th January I visited Whitechapel Mission for an arranged interview for the day to talk about homelessness in young people in East London. Unfortunately I was unable to hold the interview as the person I was expected and agreed to interview was unavailable and was told would be unavailable for the next 2 weeks.

Above is the email which I had sent to Jenny after failing to meet her on Tuesday. From that time onwards I still haven't received a response. This is problem as I will be past my deadline.

As a result of this I've decided to look into other charities that deal with the matter of the subject until i manage to get a response from Jenny. In the meantime i will be emailing her the questions i have prepared and planned to ask.

P7 - Contingency Plan

The Whitechapel mission is located in East London where I will be travelling to.

I will arrive at the location at 4:30m pm on the 13th January 2015

I will be interviewing Jenny -  who is one of the workers at the charity - and with permission given I will also interview 3 people who have been to the charity that has received help from there.

PLAN B: If I am unable to go ahead with the interview then I will look into another charity in East London. I will attempt to contact jenny to ask my questions, even if I cannot meet her face to face

How I will attract my audience
As my audience are young I will be including music as it is popular with the age range of my target audience.
Because my story is about young people I think the story itself will attract my audience as it will cover the side of the news that is sometimes overlooked. Also, as it is set in East London it will get young people interested because it is local.
